The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Vienna (IQOQI-Vienna) of the Austrian Academy
of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a
POSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X)
in the research group “Gravitational Quantum Physics” led by Markus Aspelmeyer (for details please visit:
The position will be funded by the ERC Synergy Grant Q-Xtreme, a research project jointly with the University
of Innsbruck and ETH Zurich to explore the extreme regime of macroscopic quantum superpositions of solids.
Theoretical research in the field of macroscopic quantum physics, in particular the study of noise and
decoherence effects in levitated quantum optomechanical systems, as well as the design and theoretical
analysis of new experimental methods and protocols to generate non-Gaussian quantum states of motion
of levitated solids
Supporting the experimental members of the team with analytical and numerical tools for parameter
estimations and noise analysis
Being involved in various administrative and academic tasks that involve the collaboration within the
ERC Synergy network between Vienna, Innsbruck, and Zurich
Your profile:
Completed PhD studies in physics
Previous (independent) research experience and a scientific track record reflecting your level of seniority
Experience in supervising students and writing project proposals
